December Holiday Meeting /Party
Was a success again for 2011. Around 50 FCCC members gathered for a night of great food and friendship. Thanks to the staff at the Red Horse for their service and signature baked Alaska dessert!
Another Possible Meeting Spot- from: Bruce Blum
There's
a local
restaurant
where we eat regularly that is very interested in hosting meetings.
It's the Olde Town Diner located in the shopping center in the
triangle between Routes 40 and 40A where Burger King is. Their
food is excellent and very reasonably priced. Golden Gears
club uses them for their monthly meetings.
The restaurant has
just gotten a beer and wine license and will be serving it within a
few weeks. I talked to the manager and they would love to have
us there. They're willing to close the dining room for us and
arrange tables any way to suit us. The dining area is nice
sized and appears to easily fit a normal sized meeting with no
problem.
Their parking lot is plenty big enough...especially
during the evening hours.
If you've never tried it, you might
stop by just to sample their food and talk to the manager.
It's one of our favorite places to have lunch or dinner.

Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition
Chevrolet today unveiled the 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition – the fastest, most capable convertible in Corvette’s history – as well as a 60th Anniversary Package that will be available on all 2013 Corvette models.
“The 2013 model year will be historic for Corvette, marking its 60th Anniversary and the final year for the current ‘C6’ generation.”
The Corvette 427 Convertible blends elements of the Z06 and ZR1 models to create the fastest and most-capable convertible in Corvette’s history.
Its heart is the 427-cubic-inch (7.0L) LS7 engine from the Corvette Z06. Rated at 505 horsepower (377 kW) and 470 lb.-ft. of torque (637 Nm), it is the most powerful engine ever installed in a production Corvette convertible – and, like the Z06, the 427 Convertible is only available with a six-speed manual transmission
Here is some of the things we did 2011-
February-
Barley and Hops FCCC Non Official Social Gatherings- We had one of these in February. Thursday the 3rd. Of course the threat of bad weather was in the air. This kept the president from attending. And the reporter was in bed sweating out a fever.
March-
Rib City 5227 Presidents Ct. (corner of Corporate Dr) Frederick Md.- FCCC Member Mike Coles and organized a social gathering for March. Wednesday March 2nd 6:00PM
Why Wednesday? Because Wednesday is 25 cent draft beer night at Rib City!
April-
Free State Corvette Club and Mr. Mike Canney cordially invited us to join the festivities on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Sunset Hills Vineyard near Purcellville, VA.
We shared wine, cheese, fruit, finger sandwiches, crackers, pepperoni, cookies and beer.
Eleven Corvettes left Frederick round 11:00AM and arrived at Sunset Hills 40 minutes later. Parking was close and it was on gravel. There was no rain and the sun did not show up. Even though it was just a little chilly, FCCC members still had a good time. If we only had a fire pit! Or a little Crown Royal
May-
Beef & Buns in Paradise Sunday May 15th 12:00 noon till 3:00 PM
And the rain stayed away long enough and 21 cars attended the show.
Thanks go out to Bob & Kathy Gartner for registering the attendees and handing out the trophies. And also thanks to Rod & Vicki (Beef & Buns) for sponsoring the event. Pics will be posted at www.fccc.us
Maybe, just maybe we can avoid the rain for the next one!
1st Place- Harry Haslam 1961 Impala 2nd Place- Dave Cole 1996 Corvette Grand Sport 3rd Place- Tom Chatfield 2011 Camaro Convertible Corvette Only Trophy- Robert Williams 2008 Corvette ZO6
June-

August-
FCCC Annual Picnic Sunday, August 14th. 11:00 AM till 4-5 PM
This year our picnic was moved to the Walkersville City Park located on Kenneth Dr in Walkersville Md.
The picnic has always been and we intend it to continue to free to all 2011 PAID FCCC members and their children at home. We were able to save $200 by moving the picnic to Walkersville Park.
The day did not look good at the start, but Corvette gods smiled upon us and let the sun shine through! 89 FCCC members along with 34 family and guests attended. We set up around 9:00AM (in the rain) people started arriving around 11:00 and the picnic ended at 5:00. Some were worried about location being big enough to accommodate our picnic. With 2 pavilions and the tents set up for the food it seemed to work out just fine
September-
Corvettes at Westridge 2011
Perfect timing! How did The Frederick County Corvette Club pull this one off? It not only rained for five straight days, it dumped rain! And on Friday evening, it finally stopped. We had a very nice day for the show. We had about 50 registered cars and many drive through spectators. The farthest distance traveled was 200 miles!
October-
Cracked Claw Closed! As of October 9th 2011 The Cracked Claw will be closed. Our September 15th meeting is safe, but that will be the last. The Cracked Claw and Tammy have been very good to us for many years.
Sunset Hills Winery #2
Well, it was a bit chilly again this time. We still managed to pull a good size group together for the event. There was plenty of wine for tasting and purchase. Live entertainment was provided while we shared our snacks and drinks. The owner gave a tour of his garage where he kept his road course racing Mustangs and spare parts. I guess you need those with Fords. Someone got caught drinking a beer at winery. I don’t remember who, but they do not have a license for beer. The individual was allowed to finish his or her beer before disposing of the bottle.
November-
Toys for Tots / Corvette Club of America at Hooters in Rockville, MD
FCCC Members got together on Saturday morning in the Sam’s Club parking lot to drive down together and make they’re toy deliveries. The official FCCC reporter did not attend, so we will have to get the details on Thursday.
Eighth Annual Marine Reserve Corps Toys for Tots toy drive and fun car show. The date this year is November 12, 2011, from noon until 4:00 p.m. at Hooters of Rockville, 1584 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD.
