SPEED WORLD CHALLENGE is Racing into 2010
The SPEED World Challenge will be coming to VIR - Virginia International Raceway in September and this is a great opportunity for your clubs to participate in this exciting event.
SPEED World Challenge has been working hard with enthusiasts to offer meet-and-greet opportunities with the race drivers and their teams, as well as paddock visits, special merchandise and sponsor giveaways, etc. World Challenge worked with each track in 2009 and there were different opportunities at each race. Some races had defined car corrals with trackside hospitality and exclusive reserved parking for owners of corral-featured cars. Some included the opportunity to participate in parade laps around the circuits.
Overall, the events were great and we had the opportunity to meet many other enthusiasts. The World Challenge is already planning events for 2010 related to their races, and we are hoping to make it to even more tracks in 2010 and support this great series. I have posted some pictures from Mosport, Mid-Ohio and Road Atlanta on a Facebook page to promote corrals and enthusiast gatherings with this series at:

So with the above in mind, I am starting a dialogue with chapters to get interested enthusiasts information for upcoming races. It's never too late to start planning, publishing the event on your club calendars and in your newsletters. Please feel free to email me if you would like more information and up-dates as we receive them.
Kentucky Senator Files Bill to Name Corvette Official State Sports Car
State
Senator Mike Reynolds,
D-Bowling Green, has filed legislation (Senate Bill 111) designating
the Corvette as the official state sports car of Kentucky.
The
Corvette’s role in Kentucky’s manufacturing and tourism
industries make it a natural choice for “official sports car
of Kentucky.” Warren County is the home of the General
Motors Bowling Green Assembly Plant and the National
Corvette Museum.
“Bowling Green is becoming more
of a tourist destination. The
National Corvette Museum is a major part of that and is a
definite drawing card for the traveling public. Drawing attention to
our community and the Corvette’s unique role in our American
heritage can only boost economic development for our area,”
Senator Reynolds said.
Senate Bill 111 has been referred to
the Senate Committee on Economic Development, Tourism, and Labor.
“The Corvette has become a tangible symbol of our
Commonwealth, and I’m excited to make that symbolism
official,” Senator Reynolds said. Senator Reynolds represents
the 32nd district, which includes Butler and Warren
counties.
